Portainjertos y variedades

Hybrid between Pistacia intergerrima and Pistacia atlantica, developed by the University of California. From this cross, a homogeneous and highly vigorous rootstock is born. It stands out for its high resistance to verticillium and cold, and for its early entry into production. Usually established in irrigated plantations.

VARIEDADES

Productoras

Originating from Greece, it stands out for its early entry into production. It performs well in soils with a climate with mild winters due to its low chilling hour requirement. The fruit is destined for industry, small in size and elongated in shape. Egino and C-Especial are its main pollinators.

Originally from Israel and introduced by the United States, it is an ideal variety for cold areas with irrigated land, as it presents higher yields than others. It stands out for being destined for snacks due to its rounded, large fruit with a white shell. Peter is its main pollinator. It is very similar to Kerman in most of its characteristics.

Originating from Iran and selected by the University of California, for producers, processors, and consumers it is the most popular variety worldwide. Like other varieties, it presents annual variations in production that can be corrected with proper management. The fruit is large and round in shape, with a light shell and a high percentage of sugars, so it meets the ideal characteristics for snack consumption. It is the most demanded variety by the market. Its main pollinator is Peter.

Originally from Cyprus, Larnaka stands out for its high yield and good performance in dryland due to the high percentage of split and filled nuts. The size is medium and elongated, so, despite the organoleptic quality of its fruit, it is destined for industry. Recommended for areas with low accumulation of chilling hours. It is grown mainly in Spain and Greece. Its main pollinator is C-Especial.

Selected by INRAT in Tunisia, it is a variety appreciated for its vigor and the good taste of its fruit. Its chilling hour needs to reach an optimal vegetative stop are low, so it is grown in warmer areas. It stands out for being early ripening. The fruits are elongated and medium-sized, so they are destined for industry.

Created by SCIRO in Australia, it is a variety with good adaptation to dryland soils with great vigor that allows it to advance entry into production. Sirora’s resistance is greater than other pistachio varieties. The fruit is visually attractive, although smaller than the varieties destined for snacks. It can be used for industrial purposes or for snacks. Its main pollinator is C-Especial.
